BirdChess Return to training

WHAT'S NEW

BirdChess keeps getting better

The highlights of what's shipped recently. New entries land every week or so.

Your games now tell you what to train

  • Opening report. Import your last 30 Chess.com or Lichess games and get a per-opening scoreboard — how often you play each opening, how you score with it, and how deep you stay in book — worst scores first, with a one-click route into training the openings that are costing you points.
  • Sparring games explain the opening. While you're in book against the bird, each move — yours and the bird's — gets a one-line explanation of the idea behind it. The words stop when the theory does.
  • A friendlier lost-page. Wander to a page that doesn't exist and the bird now suggests a safer move.

Fairer limits, clearer prices

  • Free plan reworked. Training limits are now per-line in Train and per-game in Play — clearer, and kinder to how people actually practice.
  • Discount links show the real price. Arrive with a promo code and the actual discounted price appears on the pricing card and the upgrade panel before you ever reach checkout.
  • Public FAQ. Pricing, the free plan, and how BirdChess compares — all in one place.

A sharper look

  • Interface refresh. A crisper icon set throughout, a cleaner top bar, and bigger bird reactions on the board.
  • Tell us what you think. In-app feedback, one tap away.

August 10–11, 2026

The Labs arrive

  • Trap Lab. Five puzzles a day: spot the trap before it lands on you.
  • Counter Lab. Punish the typical slips your opponents actually play.
  • Placement drill. A quick session that finds your level so training starts in the right place.
  • Daily rotation. The labs rotate so every day trains something different.
  • Sparring setup, redesigned. Pick an opening, pick your bird, pick your side — or let the bird surprise you.

August 8–9, 2026

Deeper openings, smarter days

  • Play vs the bird. Spar full games against birds from Pigeon (~600) to Eagle (~2000), with live opening tracking and a scorecard.
  • More book. Extended Ruy Lopez lines, richer Opening-of-the-Day editorial, and a soundness audit across the curriculum.

Early August 2026

Foundations

  • Mobile training, reworked. A dedicated phone shell for drilling one-handed.
  • Help-aware scoring. Hints now price themselves before you tap — and the score reflects the help you used.
  • Teacher partners. Chess teachers earn a commission and their students get a discount — the program is open.
